This week, we’re trying to help a teenage mum called Tara and her 9 month old baby girl.
Tara left home when she was 15 after her mum remarried. Her new step dad was physically abusive to Tara and her sister, so she left and was placed in a hostel.
She struggled with depression and felt very alone. She fell pregnant when she was 17, but the baby’s father was also abusive and controlling. With the support of a social worker and the police, Tara managed to leave the relationship. Then, one month after her 18thbirthday, she gave birth to her baby girl.
She lived in a mother and baby unit for a little while, and has just moved into her first flat.
Tara is only 18. She’s all on her own and is still dealing with a lot of trauma. She is so excited to be in her first flat with her baby, but her social worker said there are so many things they need.
We’d love to help get her properly set up and give her and her baby girl the best possible start.
