Today, we are helping Ruby, a 10 year old girl from Chorley who has just lost her mum.

Ruby’s mum, Tina, had stage 4 bowel cancer, and sadly passed away in November.

We heard about Ruby from a family friend, who told us that Tina wanted nothing more than to make Christmas Day extra special for her daughter. Ruby had watched her mum go through gruelling treatment, and it affected her very deeply.

Her mum and dad wanted to surprise Ruby with the laptop she had been wanting for Christmas. They were looking into buying a refurbished one which they could pay off over time. We wanted to help and so with funds raised by Gala Bingo, we have sent Ruby a brand new laptop, software and case, as well as some gift vouchers for her favourite clothes store.

Our plans to do something kind for Ruby have been in the works for a couple of months, so her mum was aware that we were going to buy Ruby the laptop. She had been hoping she would be here to see her daughter's face on Christmas Day. Sadly, that wasn’t to be. But we are honoured to be able to fulfil her mum’s wishes, and we hope it helps to make a very difficult Christmas a little bit brighter for Ruby.
