This week 52 Lives headed east to the beautiful land of Norfolk and visited a school whose neighbour is none other than the Queen herself.
Mrs Gardner is the headteacher of two beautiful primary schools in Norfolk and heard about the School Kindness Project after hearing our founder, Jaime being interviewed on the Saturday Live Show on BBC Radio 4. When she heard about the School Kindness Project, Mrs Gardener immediately got in touch and asked us to visit her school.
Our Director of Kindness, Greig, has been all been all over the world with his 101 Things To Do When You Survive initiative but he had never been to Norfolk until now. What a beautiful part of the world!
Greig spent the morning with Sandringham and West Newton School before heading off down the road to spend the afternoon with Flitcham School. The entire day was an incredible success and the children took on board and practiced all the things that kindness stands for. After hearing that being kind can actually help you live longer the children decided they were all set to live until at least 500 years old!
This week, the 52 Lives School Kindness Project worked wit the children to send some love and support to an amazing little girl called Mollie.
Mollie was born 3 months premature and spent 4 month in ICU. She was diagnosed with Ring 18 Syndrome – a rare genetic disorder, and her parents were told she probably wouldn’t live to see her first birthday. Ten years on, Mollie continues to defy expectations, but she is severely disabled and is now having palliative care at home.
Upon hearing Mollie's story, the children could not wait to tell her how brave and amazing she is. The children spent their time frantically preparing the most beautiful cards, letters, posters, video messages and gifts for Mollie. Greig's car was full to the brim when he left Norfolk.
It was an incredible day and we are in no doubt that these children are fully aware of just how powerful a kind action can be.
