This week the 52 Lives School Kindness Project headed west to glorious Bristol to visit the children and staff at Bishop Sutton Primary.
Greig can always tell when he is in store for a wonderful day when he is greeted by such a warm welcome from the teachers and staff. The children and staff were an absolute joy to work with and the interactive presentation was such a fun experience.
After discussing what kindness is and how it can affect the world we live in, the children were given a Kindness Quiz, where they got every single answer right! Absolutely amazing.
The children were then told about our life of the week, a brave 2 year old girl called Callie. Callie has a serious heart condition and has spent her life going in and out of hospital. She tires incredibly easily and finds it difficult to go anywhere, even for short periods of time. Callie is not currently on the list for a heart transplant – she was turned down by one hospital as she was deemed too high risk. So she is awaiting assessment at another hospital to see if they might give her a different answer – it’s the only option the family has left.
The 52 Lives School Kindness Project wanted to do something kind for Callie and her family, to let them know that we are sending our love and support. After hearing about the amazing children at Bishop Sutton from their teacher, Mrs Tucker, we just knew they were the right people to ask to help spread some kindness.
The children couldn't wait to get started in creating things to let Callie know that we are there for her. The children made cards, sent video messages, gifts and even wrote a song for her. (See video below for an exclusive look at Callies song!). The day was a wonderful success packed with boundless forms of kindness and lots of fun.
Callie and her parents were overwhelmed by the love they received from the children at Bishop Sutton. You can see their thank you in the photos and video below.
