This week, 52 Lives headed up the motorway to visit two incredible schools in Leicestershire and Mansfield and told them all about an amazing little girl called Aimee.
Aimee is 5 years old and last year was diagnosed with a Wilms tumour, which is a cancer of the kidney. Our School Kindness Co-ordinator, Greig, was also diagnosed with this disease as a 7 year old so this particular story was very close to his heart.
Aimee has undergone a major operation to remove one of her kidneys as well as going through 27 weeks of chemo and radiotherapy. She is an incredibly brave and positive little girl and the children at Clipston Primary School in Leicestershire and Asquith Primary School in Mansfield wanted to let Aimee know just how special she really is.
After having a good chat about kindness and learning just how important their actions are, not just to those close to them but also to people they have never met, the children set about making Aimee the most beautiful cards, letters and gifts. They wanted her to know how much they cared about her and how brave they think she is. Greig saw first hand how much it meat to these children to be able to help make Aimee's life that bit better.
Scroll down for a little glimpse into what they did for Aimee and if your heart is in need of a little bit of warming up this winter. People really are good!
