This week, we’d like to do something kind for a single mum and her children, who are living in a hostel in Wales.
Renna has been living in the UK for almost 20 years. Her children were born here, and they have created a life here. But Renna was being abused by her partner, and so she took her children and fled.
Renna and her daughters were homeless, and so they have been staying in a hostel for the past 6 months. The 3 of them live in one small room, and share a bathroom and kitchen with everyone else staying in the hostel.
After Renna left her husband, her Leave to Remain in the UK was due to be renewed. She didn’t have the funds to renew it, and so her Leave to Remain has now expired. She is receiving help from legal aid, but the process is going to take up to 6 months to sort out. In the meantime, Renna has no recourse to public funds, which means she is not entitled to benefits.
Renna was nominated by a homeless charity that has been trying to help her. They said a few small things would make a big difference to Renna and her daughters – a small fridge for their room, some clothing for the girls and some vouchers to help towards food.
Renna and her daughters have been through a lot, and at the moment there is no end in sight. With your help we’d like to do something kind for them.
