This week, we have been trying to help a 16 year old girl from Nambour, Australia called Alana.
It is Alana's dream to repesent Australi in netball, and her dedication is paying off - she was recently accepted to go to nationals, as part of the Budgies Indigenous Junior Netball competition. Unfortunately, it will be very difficult for her mum to find the money to send her, so without help she won't be able to go.
Alana's mum is a single mother of 3. She is studying for a bachelor of human services, and also works part time to try help Alana fulfill her dreams. She is an amazng woman, but she could do with some help.
Alana's grandfather represented Australia 4 times in Disabilities Bowls (he had both legs amputated). He lived with Alana and her mum for two years, before he passed away in 2012. He was a source of inspiration for Alana, and when she spoke at his funeral she vowed to be the next family member to represent Australia.
Thanks to the amazing people at the Ashmore Palms Holiday Village on the Gold Coast, we have been able to give Alana and her mum a $400 gift voucher towards accommodation for nationals, so that part is taken care of.
But Alana's friends and family still need to find money to cover the remaining expenses, which they are trying to do through the raffle. We want to help them achieve their goal.
