This week, we’d like to help a 9 year old girl called Milly, who is a young carer for her brother, Robbie.
Robbie was born prematurely and left with multiple disabilities. He has cerebral palsy and is unable to walk. He is also partially blind, tube fed, and has epilepsy.
Milly’s mum is a single parent. She has anxiety and depression, and has been struggling a lot this year. They have been shielding for months to keep Robbie safe, and she also hasn’t been able to work, which has left them in financial difficulty.
Milly has been a huge support to her mum, going above and beyond to help take care of her brother. She helps to set up his feeding pump, helps to bathe him, checks on him in the night, and generally does everything she can to take the pressure off her mum.
Milly’s 10th birthday is coming up, and her mum has been so worried about trying to make it special for her, when they’re struggling just to cover the basics at the moment.
Milly is such an amazing little girl who has taken on so much, and with your help we’d love to help make her birthday extra special this year.
