This week, we’d like to help a 14 year old girl called Amy.
Amy has been living with her dad since she was 11 years old, as her mum wasn’t able to care for her. In December, her dad sadly took his own life and Amy was the one who found him.
Amy was left traumatised and is still struggling to deal with what happened. She will now be going to live with her mum full-time – it’s the first time she has been allowed to live with her mum in years.
Her mum has also had an incredibly tough life. She was abused as a child and experienced domestic violence as an adult. She has unstable personality disorder and is in recovery for addiction. But her social workers say she has turned her life around, and is now in a position to be able to care for Amy.
Amy’s social worker said she is an incredibly clever, artistic young girl, who has shown so much resilience - especially considering social services has been in and out of her life since she was born.
But they need help. They don’t have a cooker or any flooring, and Amy also needs a bed and some other things for her new bedroom. We’d like to provide what they need to help make the flat a proper home for them both, as well as some school and art supplies for Amy.
