This week, we’d like to help a 12 year old girl called Daphne.
Daphne is autistic and lives at home with her mum and 2 little sisters. Her dad left, so her mum had to cut right back on her hours at work to care for her. It's meant they had to leave their home and move into a council property.
Daphne has extreme anxiety and panic attacks. She also has a severe phobia of being in water and so has never been able to use a bath - and the council house they have just moved into only has a bath, no shower. So 3 times a week the family all take a 1.5 hour bus ride to their nan’s house so Daphne can shower.
Daphne’s mum is so worried about her. She said: “She puts a lot of guilt on herself, thinking she has ruined my life. She has suicidal thoughts and it’s a constant worry.”
Daphne was nominated by the family’s social worker, who said: “Life isn’t easy for this family, and the children are really feeling the strain. They need winter clothes, they need some basic items for the home - and I’d also love to see them all have some fun together.”
With your help, we’d like to do this for them.
