This week, we’d like to help a 68 year old man called David, who is about to be discharged from a care home.
David has had three strokes and was hospitalised last year. He went from the hospital straight into the care home, as he was on end of life care. But during the past 8 months, his condition has improved and they believe he will be able to live independently in ‘Extra Care Housing’, where he will have support if he needs it.
Before he fell ill, David was renting a room in a shared house so he has very few belongings and no bed. On top of this, the property he will be moving into has no carpet, and his social worker told us he is at high risk of falls.
She said: “He is due to leave the care home at the end of this week. I know it’s a lot to ask but we’d love to get this sorted for him before then.”
With your help, we’d like to give David a lovely, safe flat to move into.
