This week, we’d like to help a one year old baby girl called Shabina and her family. Shabina was born with a lot of medical complications, and sadly they are life-limiting.
She lives with her parents and her big brother and sister. The family got into financial trouble and were at risk of homelessness, so they moved in with a relative for a little while. They managed to secure a council house, but things are very tough for them.
Shabina's dad works as a taxi driver, but has to take a lot of time off to take Shabina to her hospital appointments, as her mum doesn’t drive.
Like many council properties, their home didn’t have any flooring when they moved in, and so they had to go into debt to buy carpet. They don't have much furniture, and the children have very few clothes or toys.
Their social worker said: “Shabina’s big sister is a young carer - she spends a lot of time cuddling and sitting by Shabina and helping her parents care for her. It would be so nice for these children to have a lovely home - the past few months have been very unsettled. Shabina is on palliative care, which has been very hard for them all to deal with. It is a really sad situation and they are such a gracious family.”
With your help, we’d like to provide some things for their home, and some clothes and toys for the children. We’d also like to help to cover some groceries and bills for a little while to take the pressure off Shabina’s dad.
