This week, we’d like to help a woman called Lisa, who has stage 4 bowel cancer and sadly has been told she only has weeks to live.
Lisa and her husband, Iain, live near Bristol and have two children, Rosie (8) and Reggie (2). Rosie, has a rare, life-limiting form of muscular dystrophy called Nemaline Rod Myopathy. She has very weak muscle tone, uses a wheelchair, and has spent a lot of time in intensive care. Even a simple cold can present life-threatening symptoms for her.
Lisa is in a hospice at the moment, but will be going home next week. Needless to say, this is an incredibly emotional time for the family.
They had been fundraising to try to help Rosie live a more full and independent life but, after Lisa fell ill, it had to be put on the backburner.
We have been talking to Lisa over the past couple of weeks about the best way we can help. She said there are some things that would really help Rosie (such as a hot tub, so she can have hydrotherapy at home, and some adaptations to the home). We would love for Lisa to know that her little girl and family will be supported when she is gone and so we are raising funds to provide as much help as we can.
