This week, we’re trying to help a woman called Tina and her teenage children, who have suffered horrific abuse.
Tina was in an abusive relationship and split up with her partner. He broke into her house and raped her, with her children in the next room. After social services spent time with the children, they also found out that the perpetrator’s son had sexually abused one of Tina’s daughters when he was living in their house.
The children are traumatised. They have nightmares, episodes of crying and screaming and generally acting out against their mum. The children also don’t like to share their worries or fears with their mum, as they feel like she has enough on her plate. Their social worker said she is concerned for the emotional and physical wellbeing of the whole family.
They were placed in temporary accommodation, but it is 2 hours from their schools. The children already have very low attendance, so it was decided it would be best if they stay in their old house during the week (her ex does not live in the house) and go to the temporary accommodation at the weekend, until a better, more permanent solution is found.
Tina has severe problems with her back, as well as PTSD, anxiety and depression. She can’t work and struggles to maintain their home. A lot of their furniture was broken by her ex – he broke the children’s doors, beds and wardrobe doors and also punched holes in their walls.
We’d like to give some support to Tina and her children.
