This week, we’d like to help a 16 year old girl called Carrie, who has baby girl and also cares for her mum – all while trying to complete her GCSEs.
Carrie’s mum has disabilities so Carrie is a young carer for her. Carrie also has a one year old daughter. Carrie is trying to do her GCSEs from home, but she is finding it hard to juggling everything.
Her and her mum were rehoused last year due to black mould, but the property they were rehoused in has no carpet and no oven.
Carrie’s mum isn't able to work, so can't afford carpet or any appliances for the new property.
Carrie has received some support as a young carer, which meant she could buy a laptop and a cot bed for her baby, but there is so much more they need.
Carrie’s social worker said she is an amazing young girl who is working so hard, but she could really do with some support. We’d like to carpet their home, buy the appliances they need, and also pay for anything Carrie needs for her studies. We’ll also provide some clothes for her and her daughter and food vouchers to take some pressure of them.
