This week, we’d like to help a teenage boy called Niall, who became homeless at 16 after his parents kicked him out.
Niall stayed on sofas of friends and family for a little while. He was assaulted by a family member during that time, and was referred to a local homelessness charity who have been working with him ever since.
When Niall first came to them, he was using cannabis and ‘easily influenced’… but his support worker gave him a warning and she said from that moment, he completely turned things around.
Niall got a job caring for adults with disabilities, which he has been doing for more than 2 years. He has even received an award for his work.
The homelessness charity said he is ready to move out of their supported accommodation and into his own flat. But Niall is moving from a furnished flat into an unfurnished one, so he is starting from scratch. His support worker has managed to get him a washing machine, cooker and table but there's so much more he needs.
Niall has been through a lot. He’s working so hard but he has no family support. We’d love to help him set up his first proper home.
