Today - Mother's Day - we’d like to help an incredible mum called Bianca, who recently had to move with her family for their own safety.
Bianca has a disability that leaves her in a lot of pain – she was born without a hip socket and struggles to walk. She has three children, aged one, eight and ten.
Before the move they were just about managing, but since then things have gotten a lot harder for them. They were perceived to be in danger where they were living after her husband was a witness in an assault. They have moved to a house where they are much more isolated with very limited public transport. Bianca’s mental health has rapidly declined – she's in pain, can't move around very well, can't go outside very easily and she is feeling really alone.
The house has no carpet, which is really dangerous both for Bianca and her toddler (he regularly trips and hurts himself on the concrete floor). Bianca’s husband was working full-time, but he has had to cut his hours right down to help Bianca look after the children.
The older children were out of school for six months, as there weren’t any school places available close by and Bianca couldn’t take them to schools further away, so she has been teaching them at home.
They were nominated by a support worker, who said: “It has honestly been a nightmare. The family have endured managing the physical difficulties of Mum as well as factors that have impaired their mental health. The children have had to move house due to no fault of their own and have also had periods out of school due to these home moves. Your support would make a big difference to their lives.”
We'd like to carpet their house, buy other things they need for the home, and provide some toys for the children. We'd also like to buy some gifts / nice experiences for Bianca.
