This week we’d like to help a woman called Rose who has been left with severe injuries from her partner after she tried to protect her children.
Rose has four children at home, aged 12, 14, 16 and 17. Her 14 year old has epilepsy and short term memory loss and her youngest has learning difficulties.
The children’s dad was violent with them but Rose would step in so he would hit her instead. The last time Rose tried to protect them, he pushed her down the stairs and sexually assaulted her. She has been left with severe damage to her ankle, uses a walking stick and lives in a lot of pain. She used to have a part time job, which she has had to give up.
He ex-partner lives in another country now but broke or sold a lot of their things before he left. Rose and the children couldn’t face staying in the same house. The children were traumatised by everything that he did to them, and everything they saw him to do their mum.
Their landlord agreed to move them into another property, but they are still living in really poor conditions. Most of the children don’t have proper beds, they sleep on stained mattresses on the floor and Rose sleeps on the sofa as she can’t manage the stairs.
The family is being supported by social services. The support worker who nominated them said the children are suffering from the ongoing physical and emotional impact the abuse has had on them, and would really benefit from some kindness and support to help them start a new life in their new home.
We’d like to provide them with lots of things to set them up properly in their new home, as well as some extra things the children need for school.
