This week, we’d like to help two siblings under 3 who have lifelong disabilities after suffering non-accidental injuries when they were babies.
Since that time, this little duo have had exceptional nurturing care from their foster carers, while they wait for someone to adopt them. One of the children is blind in one eye, the other has significant feeding issues, requiring PEG feeding, and both have special educational needs.
They were nominated by their social worker, who said the foster parents are doing a wonderful job but it is exhausting, especially as they are an older couple. It is a full-time job for both foster parents, and there has been a lot of additional expense which is not covered by the money they receive from the local authority. There is a pending disability living allowance application, but it will take some time to come through.
The children need the next stage in car seats and beds, which we would like to provide for them (if they cannot get these elsewhere). We've also set up a wishlist for them filled with sensory toys and some Christmas presents. We’re also adding a few special gifts on the wishlist for their foster parents too.
