This week, we’re trying to help a woman called Chloe who is due to have a baby any day now.
Chloe is 22 years old. She was removed from her parents when she was 8 due to neglect and grew up in the care system. She had severe anxiety and starting using cannabis. By the time she was 18, she was homeless.
Luckily, she was referred to a homelessness charity and moved into supported accommodation. She really struggled at first and found it hard to trust the staff that were trying to help her. She was also in an abusive, controlling relationship and had lost confidence in herself. But that has all changed. Chloe left that relationship, she has been substance-free for 18 months and for the first time she is hopeful about her future.
Her support worker said : “Despite everything that she has experienced, she has used it to become a better version of herself.”
Chloe is so excited for the birth of her baby and is trying to set up a proper home for them. She is just about to move into her first home and has been so resourceful in finding furniture and some of the things they’ll need. She’s been saving hard, finding second-hand things and has also managed to get some bits and pieces from baby banks. But there is still so much more that she needs.
She has tried to reconnect with her parents, but they have very chaotic lives so she made the brave decision to end all communication with them – so she has no family support.
With your help, we’d love to provide everything else she needs to make this next few weeks a lovely, stress-free experience for her and her new baby.
