This week, we’d like to help two teenagers called Otis and Clara, who have had a very tough few years.
Their mum has struggled with her health and wasn’t able to care for her them. She has mobility problems, a very weak immune system, poor eyesight and suffers from a lot of infections. She was also in an abusive relationship with their step-dad.
The courts placed Otis and Clara with their dad and their other siblings were placed into care. But life with their dad wasn’t much better for them. The house was riddled with bed bugs, and there was never enough food.
Their mum is doing better, so they have made the decision to go back and live with her. She is in a 1 bedroom flat, but social services are helping them into larger accommodation. It’s going to be challenging - Otis and Clara will be studying while helping to care for their mum, and they don’t have many belongings.
Their social worker said: “The loss of their siblings into care and being placed with their dad has impacted their emotional wellbeing. But they can now see a future with his mum. Due to the bed bugs, they can’t bring anything from their dad’s house. They need help.”
We’d love to provide them with everything they need to create safe, comfy bedrooms, some new clothes and anything they need for school.
