This week, we’d like to help a woman called Sally and her two children, aged 7 and 9, who have been helping to care for her. Sally has breast cancer and they have recently been made homeless.
They were evicted from their home after complaining of mould, and the landlord got rid of all of their belongings – even passports and medical records. Sally is getting legal advice and it is causing a huge amount of stress. In the meantime they have been placed in emergency accommodation.
They were nominated by a young carer’s support worker. Both girls have helped to care for their mum during her illness and their support worker said it has affected their own wellbeing, which has manifested itself in ways such as their hair falling out.
She said: “They are sweet-natured, kind, caring children, despite experiencing significant trauma in their young lives. Having recently been made homeless and losing everything they own, I feel they deserve some kindness so that the family can begin to rebuild their life, feel supported and not alone during this incredibly difficult period.”
We’d like to provide some of the essentials they need for these next few months – and also raise funds so we can help them more when they have permanent accommodation.
