This week, we’d like to help a woman called Sameena and her family, who are going through a really tough time.
Sameena’s 11 year old daughter has recently been diagnosed with cancer and is having chemotherapy. Her 7 year old son has Down's syndrome, is autistic and has asthma, and she also has a 16 year old daughter.
Her husband works as a labourer, but since their daughter’s diagnosis, he has had to be at home to care for their son while Sameena is at the hospital.
The 5 of them live in a 2 bedroom flat. It’s cramped, cold and has mould, which is making their son’s asthma worse. They are on a waiting list for a bigger council flat that will suit their children’s needs.
Sameena’s social worker said: “The cancer diagnosis has placed additional strain on them, both emotionally and practically. The eldest child’s emotional well-being has also been affected by her sister's diagnosis. It’s crucial for the family to receive as much support as possible.”
We’d like to help. They need a specialist buggy for their 7 year old, so we’d like to raise funds for that. We’d also like to provide some things they need to make their current living situation a bit better, some gifts for her younger children and a computer and art supplies for her eldest daughter.
