This week, we’d like to help a 4-year old girl called Rosie and her family.
Rosie has been diagnosed with leukaemia and will need to have treatment for at least the next two years. Rosie’s big sister is 15 and has additional needs, and she also has a 5 year old brother.
Rosie’s mum had been the one staying at home to look after the children, while her dad worked shifts to support them. But when Rosie was diagnosed, he had to stop work temporarily to help. Rosie is having weekly treatment in hospital…lumbar punctures, chemotherapy, steroids, and antibiotics for infections. Her parents have to monitor her around the clock, take her temperature multiple times a night and take her straight to hospital if needed. It is a lot for all of them to deal with.
Rosie’s dad is looking for work again but he’s needed at home a lot at the moment, which has made it difficult to find someone to take him on. They’ve had to move out of a furnished private rental and into social housing, which is unfurnished.
They were nominated by their cancer support worker, who said: “They have just moved into social housing which they are so happy and thankful for but they do not have a lot. This family do not ask for much and really do appreciate any little thing. Their world has changed massively in the last year and they could do with a little bit of happiness.”
We’d like to help.
