52 Lives
-
This week, 52 Lives was trying to help 10 year old Kybie Hutton and his mum Kerry, from Queensland, Australia.
Kybie was diagnosed with a brain tumour in November and his mum, Kerry, also has cancer and is recovering from a recent surgery. With their 30 year old car badly in need of repair, Kerry had been having to rely on friends to help get her little boy to hospital for his treatment.
We were hoping to find a panel beater to fix their car for free, or perhaps even raise enough money to pay for it to be repaired. But on Sunday, I received an email which will change Kybie and Kerry’s life. It was from a couple in Scotland who had read their story and wanted to do something to help. It wasn’t until I reached the end of the email that I realised just what they meant by ‘help’.
“Since reading this story they have been on my mind…. I would like to buy Kerry and Kybie a car.”
This absolutely amazing couple is buying them a car!
I phoned Kerry to tell her the news and she couldn’t even speak. She was overwhelmed that someone she had never even met would be willing to give so much.
This is the message Kerry asked me to post:
"To the couple in Scotland, I don't know how to say thank you enough. I was in shock when I received the call, I just could not believe it. From our hearts to yours, thank you so much. And I can only begin to say thank you to Jaime and 52 Lives for the unbelievable support and kindness they have given us. We are not alone on this monster of a journey.”
This generous Scottish donors will never get to see the difference she has made to Kybie and Kerry’s lives. There won’t be any public recognition and there won’t be any personal thanks. But I want them to know that it truly has made a difference. In every possible way.
A very big thank you also to the kind people at Cricks Auto Group in Queensland, who have generously offered to give Kerry a much more expensive car than our budget allows for, as well as a 6 year warranty.
Amazing!
