Bullied boy gets showered with kindness
October 07, 2016 | Latest News
A few weeks ago, a video emerged on social media of a young boy called Toby being bullied and beaten up by a gang of teenagers, while someone filmed it on their phone. They even kicked him when he was on the ground trying to protect himself. Toby has also been bullied for most of his school life over the colour of his hair.
It’s been a tough year for Toby - during the past year, both his mum and step-mum sadly died. In a news interview after the attack, Toby said he didn’t fight back because he knew it’s not what his mum or step mum would have wanted.
52 Lives got in touch with Toby’s dad to see if we could do something kind for him. But when he asked Toby if there was anything he wanted, he said without hesitation ‘a mum’. We can’t change what’s happened to Toby, but we can shower him with kindness and love from all over the world!
This is what we received for Toby:
- A massive £1910 in gift cards and hundreds of messages from people all over the world!
- Tickets to Alton Towers for Toby and his family - thanks to lovely a anonymous donor
- An overnight stay at Alton Towers resort - thanks to Michele Gould
But what complete strangers did for Toby, and for everyone else who read that original horrific story of what happened to him, went far beyond gift cards and tickets and it means so much more than money. Their support shows Toby and everyone else that there is so much good in the world. It’s easy to feel helpless when we read stories like Toby’s - wanting to do something but not sure what or how. But thanks to all of the 52 Lives supporters, we now have this amazing communitiy of people who can take immediate action to spread kindness and love to those who need it.
Thanks so much to everyone who helped. And thanks to Gala Bingo's support, 100% of what people gave went directly to Toby.xx
