Strangers help a little girl who lost her mum
August 13, 2018 | Latest News
A few weeks ago, we heard about an 8 year old girl called Franny, who had recently lost her mum. After her mum died, there was a lot of conflict around where Franny would live, which was horrible for her. She ended up choosing to live with her dad and her step mum. They have welcomed her with open arms, but it has been a big adjustment - not just for Franny but also for her step-siblings. We wanted to give Franny and her siblings new bedrooms to give them a fresh start together.
Thanks to 52 Lives supporters, every item was bought from the Amazon wishlist that was set-up, and we also raised enough money to pay for the bedrooms to be carpeted and decorated. And they look beautiful!
Franny's step-mum also used some of the Amazon gift cards they receive to purchase books for the children's school to help other children going through difficult times.
After paying for everything, the family still had some funds leftover. When we asked Franny's step-mum if there was anything else they needed, she said they have already been so heartened by the kindness everyone has shown, and so they want to do something kind for someone she - she has asked me to use the money to buy a new bike for Luke (Life # 176) - a young boy we were helping, who escaped domestic violence. It meant the world to him to be able to go shopping for a brand new bike.
This is what Franny's step-mum said about the help she received..
"From the bottom of my heart I thank eachand every one of you, for all your donations andhaving us in your thoughts.
I am very proud of the finished rooms, the timing has been perfect (and much quicker than we could of ever achieved without you all) as the girls start their counselling this week so I am so relieved they will be settled in their own rooms, having the house back to normality will help them immensely if they need their own space.
The books purchased for the girls school will help support many children in similar situations to ourselves for many years, that is an amazing credit to you all.
Every message received, we shared as a family and we have been so overwhelmed by them all. 'Franny' continues to amaze me daily and the bond the girls have is gorgeous, it's an absolute pleasure to be their mam/step mam. I wish you all the very best and hope you are all well. Please continue to support 52 lives, I didn't appreciate how much it means until I was at the receiving end and I can reassure you that every message helps you smile a little bit more."Thank you to everyone who help to make this happen. There is so much good in this beautiful world. xx
