Kind strangers helped this boy stay in college
August 13, 2021 | Latest News
Earlier this year our supporters helped to pay this boy's train fares so he didn't have to drop out of his college course. And he just won an award!
His family sought asylum in the UK last year, and were originally housed in London. He started attending college and then they were disbursed to a town just outside London, which meant he had to get the train to college. The travel costs were leaving them in extreme poverty, to the point where they couldn't afford food.
The college would usually be able to help with bursaries for families in need, but they have no bank account and are unable to open one, which means they're not eligible for help with travel costs.
We raised enough to help for him for many months. He is doing so well and has won multiple awards for his studies. His dad sent us this photo with his latest award. Thank you so much to all of our supporters for helping him stay in college! This wouldn't have been possible without all of you.
