The ripple effect of kindness
August 29, 2021 | Latest News
We recently helped a mum and her 2 daughters start over after fleeing domestic violence. One of the daughters was 7 year old Skyla, who was so grateful for everything we did that she decided she wanted to help other children who are going through what she went through.
Her social worker told her about a 4 year old girl staying in a local refuge who had no toys and no other children to play with. So, with the help of her local school, Skyla arranged a collection of books, toys and clothes to donate to the women’s refuge, and she also wrote a beautiful letter to that 4 year old girl.
The social worker said: “Skyla has a very big heart. She sent a message of hope, telling her that all will be ok and about all the help she had received from 52 Lives.”
On the day Skyla’s gifts and letter arrived at the refuge, the TV in the refuge had broken, so there even less for the 4 year old girl to do.
“When Skyla’s donations arrived, the pure happiness and excitement that radiated out of this child was immeasurable! And the beautiful words of comfort from Skyla, who has come out the other end of her ordeal, had us all very teary indeed. Many adults could learn a thing or two about love, kindness and ‘paying it forward’.”
What an incredible girl. You're amazing Skyla and I’m so glad we could help you and your family.
