A medal from the King...

Feeling very honoured! I was awarded a British Empire Medal yesterday in Windsor for services to charity.
It was a strange experience…I had to stand at the front of the room, facing everyone, while they read a citation about 52 Lives, the work we do and the people we’ve helped. Hearing someone read it all aloud was pretty overwhelming and made me so proud of what we all do here on this little Facebook page every single week.
I also met so many charity and volunteer workers, who are all doing incredible things in their community in such creative and innovative ways. People really are good.
In his closing speech, the Lord Lieutenant described charity workers as ‘lighthouses of hope for the nation', which I think sums up perfectly how I feel about every person in this 52 Lives community.
I still don’t know who nominated me for the honour but, whoever you are, thank you so much for taking the time to do it. It was completely unnecessary, but really lovely of you.
